About the team

The User Focused Security Engineering (UFSE) team at Netflix cares deeply about understanding our customers, systems, and security so that we can right-size Netflix’s top risks at scale. UFSE focuses on managing and reducing risk by building high leverage and user-friendly products that enable our customers to participate in their own security. Through our products, we aim to make security accessible for all, such as by providing context and actionable guidance at the right time, and in the right place.

Our range of products cover a wide surface area, including Chrome browser extensions, web apps, notifications (such as email), and more.

About the role

Security Guide is a platform that engages our customers with security context and actionable guidance to enable them to effectively manage and reduce their risk.

We are looking for a full-stack product engineer for Security Guide, helping us extend existing features, as well as architect and build new solutions. Responsibilities may include working on backend API development, front-end user interfaces, product prototyping, and more across the overall product stack and lifecycle. You will also work cross functionally with other teams and stakeholders, including fellow engineers, product managers, security experts, and internal customers from the broader workforce.

Prior security experience is not required, though you should be interested to learn about the security landscape at Netflix, and work on security-related products.

You should have:

  • Strong experience with Javascript (Node/React), bonus points for Python
  • Strong full-stack development skills and a history of shaping end-to-end solutions
  • Experience designing and leveraging GraphQL APIs
  • Familiarity with overall system design and architecture, and how to progressively improve software

You will succeed in this role if you:

  • Believe a diverse and inclusive team is a critical aspect of a sustainable and effective work environment
  • Value a deeply collaborative team that prioritizes sharing context and supporting each other
  • Empathize with our customers, with an interest in the overall product lifecycle
  • Effectively communicate complex subjects to our internal customers and partners
  • Enjoy taking full ownership of open-ended problems, from conception to production, including effective management of your own time
  • Care about improving the systems around you, and leaving things better than you found it

At Netflix, we carefully consider a wide range of compensation factors to determine your personal top of market. We rely on market indicators to determine compensation and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to get it right. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary and will also be dependent on your location.

The overall market range for this role is typically $90,000 - $900,000

This market range is based on total compensation (vs. only base salary), which is in line with our compensation philosophy. Netflix is a unique culture and environment.
