Northrop Grumman is seeking a User Interface Designer. This position will be located at our Defense Systems Sector in Walpole, MA.

The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s 2Is Solutions team: a software development organization within the Global Sustainment and Modernization division that delivers software solutions and analytical models supporting supply chain management, forecasting, logistics, and pricing analytics.

This position is rooted in design with opportunities to grow into the development space. Candidates will be asked to provide design samples. The User Interface Designer will contribute design and usability expertise to a variety of web and mobile software applications.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Translating customer requirements and use cases into software user interface mockup/wireframe drawings and prototypes
  • Writing and maintaining HTML and CSS for web application user interfaces
  • Learning JavaScript/jQuery, React Native, and related libraries, or building upon existing knowledge
  • Developing and maintaining the accessibility, cross-browser compatibility, and responsiveness of web and mobile applications
  • Designing graphics and data visualizations to convey meaning from complex data
  • Creating image assets, graphics, and logos for use in software products and marketing materials as necessary
  • Enforcing corporate style and design guidelines in software, marketing, and other products
  • Interfacing with customers and team members to conduct user experience research, incorporate customer feedback and needs, fix defects, and evolve designs

Basic Qualifications:

  • 2 years’ relevant experience with Bachelor’s degree; 4 years relevant experience without Bachelor’s degree
  • Able to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)
  • A strong foundation in graphic design/typography
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator
  • Experience with Axure or other wireframing/prototyping tools
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience designing data visualizations
  • Experience conducting formal UX research
  • Familiarity with web accessibility concepts

Salary Range: $70,200 USD - $105,200 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
