SUPERVISOR, QUALITY ASSURANCE (2ND SHIFT)
As a Supervisor on the Quality Assurance team, you will be responsible for ensuring that the quality inspection support at Vandenberg Space Force Base provides launch and mission success. You will provide accountability to the inspection team to drive the correct behaviors. You will be responsible for allocation of resources to help ensure uninterrupted processing of SpaceX products and vehicles.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and manage a staff of inspectors including scheduling and reactive direction to ensure maximization of support
- Review work instructions and planning requirements for clarification and efficiency improvements and making change recommendations or changes when needed
- Identify and set up training programs, and maintain training matrix to ensure cross-training maximizes resource availability
- Perform vehicle and ground inspections as needed to ensure processing delays are mitigated
- Develop and implement cost reduction and efficiency improvement measures in department processes
- Work with production leaders to identify improvements and drive efficiencies and develop interdepartmental relations
- Facilitate corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiate and foster a spirit of cooperation within and between departments
- Work with build reliability leaders to prioritize and align on improvement projects
- Read, interpret and work from free form drawings as well as from controlled documentation and processes
- Support recruiting efforts performing phone interviews and on-site evaluations of inspector candidates
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of professional experience in a manufacturing environment; OR high school diploma or equivalency certificate with 6+ years of professional experience in a manufacturing environment with 1+ year(s) in a quality position
- 2+ years of leadership experience
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Excellent communication to all levels of the organization, team-building skills, and the ability to influence
- Experience with applying lean manufacturing principles, efficiency methods
- Experience bringing teams and processes from development to production
- Demonstrated experience in interpreting and applying the following: schematics, circuit layouts, and parts list, cable harnesses, wiring diagrams, layout drawings, and parts list, mechanical assemblies
- Ability to adapt to constant changing work assignments and fast paced work environment
- Ability to obtain a TS/SCI security clearance
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to work flexible shifting, direct reports will span multiple shifts
- Must be willing to work weekends and overtime as needed
- Ability to travel for short and extended trips as needed, approximately 10% of the time
- Ability to pass Air Force background checks for Cape Canaveral and Vandenberg
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Pay range:
Quality Supervisor: $105,000.00 - $135,000.00/per year
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
