  • Salary Range: $105,060 - $160,220 annually (Determined by function, education, experience, and qualifications of the applicant. A 15% salary uplift is provided on top of base salary for positions that are worked in New York City or San Francisco, which is subject to change depending on market conditions.)

Project Overview

Bechtel is designing, constructing and commissioning the world’s largest radioactive waste treatment plant for the U.S. Department of Energy at the Hanford Site in southeastern Washington state. The Hanford Tank Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant will use vitrification technology to process and solidify 56 million gallons (210 million liters) of radioactive and chemical waste stored at the Hanford site, which is a byproduct of plutonium production during World War II and the Cold War era.

 

The project is the largest undertaking of its kind and one of DOE’s most technically challenging cleanup projects. Its construction spans 65 acres (26 hectares) with four major nuclear facilities – Pretreatment, Low- Activity Waste Vitrification, High-Level Waste Vitrification and Analytical Laboratory – as well as operations and maintenance buildings, utilities, other support facilities.

 

The Waste Treatment Completion Company (WTCC) is a limited liability corporation created by Bechtel National Inc. (BNI) and AECOM. WTCC is a subcontractor to BNI, the prime contractor, to deliver the construction, turnover, startup, and commissioning activities for the WTP project. This position is located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) and works a 4 x 10 schedule, M-Th, 6:30 am to 5:00 pm. Selected applicant needs to be able and willing to work overtime and weekends as needed.

 

Position Summary

The Construction Process Manager (CPM) is responsible for the assigned staff and the timely execution of work for the following Construction functional assignments:

 

Construction Condition Reports (CRs):

Responsible for managing the assigned staff to execute project’s CR process from initiation to screening, assignments, actions, plans, implementation, through to time completion and closure for Construction assignments. Includes management and execution of assigned ACEs and RCAs as may arise. The Construction CR team reports to the CPM.

 

Construction documents:

Fully responsibility for management of Construction documents including generation and revision of Procedures, Guides, Forms, etc. Included in this assignment is the management of Bechtel corporate deviations, as required, to maintain compliance with corresponding SWPP procedures. Construction procedure lead and team report to the CPM.

 

DOORS database:

Responsible for Construction assigned requirements flow down in the DOORS database. Responsibilities include updating and maintaining current the DOORS database with respect to issued Construction procedures and responsibility for sub-allocated requirements as well allocated QAM and OSHA requirements.

 

Lesson Learned:

Responsible for the implementation Lessons Learned program for Construction. Responsible for managing staff for compliance and timely execution of the Construction Lesson Learned program.

 

Self-Assessments:

Responsible for the Construction Self-assessment program including planning and scheduling. Responsible for managing staff for compliance and timely execution of Construction Assessments.

 

In addition to dedicated staff the CPM will be responsible to draw upon the whole construction staff and other project resources in order to meet objectives and assignments. The CPM will interface with WTP – BNI, WTTC, and corporate staff for the timely completion of assignments and tasks. The CPM will report to the Field Engineering Manager.

 

Qualifications and Skills

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university and 9+ years of progressive construction and/or relevant experience with procedures or self-assessments OR High School diploma or equivalent and 15+ years of progressive construction and/or relevant experience with procedures or self-assessments.
  • Possess the right to work and remain in the US without sponsorship.
  • Must be physically able to conduct field inspections and participate in project walk-downs which may require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, using fall protection and other personal protective equipment (PPE), walking on elevated platforms, walking on uneven surfaces, and maneuvering around very small and/or confined spaces.
  • Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical, and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
  • Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of Bechtel’s Zero Accident Safety Program and familiar with current industry standards
  • Ability to plan and coordinate tasks, work autonomously and complete work productively with attention to detail
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to work in a team-based environment, knowledge of project specific requirements, general awareness of processes and procedures and familiarity with current industry quality standards.
  • Ability to independently anticipate problems in an environment of rapidly changing priorities.
  • Understanding of operation of Bechtel standard computerized systems and other information transmission and records applications.
  • Previous WTP/WTCC experience
